Disability Support Worker, Community Care Trust Jan 2015 - July 2015
As a support worker I was trained for and entrusted with the responsibility to support persons with significant intellectual disability in their homes and out in the community. Some of the persons I have worked with have been under the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act 2003 and have legal restrictions on their living situation as well as accountability measures under the Act to uphold their rights.
Some of my duties include dispensing medication, monitoring and taking progress notes, applying positive programming and following protocols to deal with challenging behaviours.
I have found the work challenging and rewarding so far. The CCT is a large and steadily growing organisation with roughly 200+ employees and 200+ adults supported in the community; the CCT is a professional employer and I would recommend them to anyone.
